Mr. Phichit Mitrawong, Managing Director, together with Mr. Sangchai Theerakulwanich, Board Member, and Mrs. Ubolrat Karpang, Executive Vice President, alongside executives from the SME D Bank Foreign Affairs and Strategic Department, warmly welcomed Mr. Nattapong Punthakeirtpaisarn, Honorary Consul of Mongolia to Phuket and Phang-nga, Thailand, and advisory member of the Consulate.
SME D Bank, a leading state-owned enterprise bank under the Ministry of Finance, hosted discussions led by Mr. Phichit, who emphasized opportunities for strengthening ties between Thailand and Mongolia, particularly through business matching with SME D Bank’s high-quality clients, with a focus on consumer products and the service sector.
Mr. Nattapong highlighted opportunities for Thai businesses to partner with Mongolian enterprises, underlining the potential to expand the economic footprint of both nations.
In addition, Mr. Sangchai, former President of the SME Federation of Thailand and currently a Board Member of SME D Bank, proposed a “Quick Win” initiative, “The Thailand-Mongolia Business Matching Camp”. This program is designed to foster mutual understanding of market requirements on both sides ahead of the official Business Matching 2026, thereby ensuring greater success. The proposal received full support from Mr. Nattapong and his advisory team.
At the conclusion of the discussions, Mr. Phichit affirmed that the meeting represents an opening window for SME D Bank clients to gain a clearer perspective on Mongolia and its strong determination to become a global economic player. He noted that Thai businesses can play an important role as strategic partners in this vision. A joint working group between the Honorary Consulate team and SME D Bank will be established to exchange insights and develop effective initiatives together.
